SENEGAL

As part of the ‘Dance in Education’ curriculum, students take part in an exchange with École des Sables in Senegal, founded by Germaine Acogny; a month long stay at the school, collaborating, learning and exchanging with west-african dancers. During the exchange, students get classes in several African dance techniques, under which ‘Technique Acogny’, learning from teachers amongst whom Patrick Acogny, Saky Tchebe Bertrand and Richard Adossou.

Sharing movement and spaces

 All dancers find themselves in several projects, exchanging together through creation, being inspired by each other and spaces around them.

Traditional dance styles

In a variety of classes, students get acquainted with various traditional African dance styles, learning about and getting inspired by new movement languages, guided by an ensemble of amazing percussionists.

Life in Toubab Dialaw

Outside the classes, the students live at École des Sables in small huts all across the terrain. They get to experience new culture, new environments and new ways of living.
